Every teaching has a history.
Mine comes through a relationship with a teacher, and the generations who taught before him.
I study Jyotish—Vedic astrology—with Pt. Sanjay Rath. This page is a small introduction to that tradition and what it means for the care I bring to your reading.

From teacher
to student.
A lineage is a succession of teachers and students through whom knowledge is passed on. In Sanskrit, this continuity is called parampara.
You may also see the phrase guru-shishya parampara: guru means teacher, and shishya means student.
Within this tradition, books are studied alongside direct teaching. There is room to ask questions, have misunderstandings corrected, and return to ideas as understanding deepens.
This is the heart of parampara.
My place within the tradition A student of

My Jyotish guru is Pt. Sanjay Rath. I continue to learn from him through the Parashara Jyotish Course and related teachings.
His instruction shapes how I study, how I read a chart, and the care I bring to the person sitting with me.

For me, this is a lifelong relationship with learning. The teaching asks for study, reflection, and the willingness to keep refining my understanding.
I approach my work with gratitude for what has been entrusted to me, and responsibility for how I share it.

I study within the tradition of the Sri Jagannath Center, a community devoted to teaching Jyotish through the teacher–student relationship.
The tradition traces its roots through Sri Achyutananda Dasa, a disciple of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
The names shown here follow the outline given by Pt. Sanjay Rath. The interval between Ramachandra Dasa and Jagannath Rath represents intervening generations.

Books give us texts to study and return to. A teacher helps us work through their meaning, notice what we have misunderstood, and consider how a principle is applied. In my own study, both have a place.
